Having first come across this artist on the latest sampler from The Big Backyard, I e-mailed for a copy, having been pretty interested in the music
I'd heard only a tiny bit of & been impressed by.

Now with five songs experience, I'm definitely impressed a lot more, not only by the music itself, but the style & superb production adds to the
overall good impression. Music fans who caught U.K. artist Lewis Taylor's last album will be in somewhat familiar territory as there's some definite comparisons to be made between both sounds.

The e.p. consists basically of 5 tracks, plus one small experimental instrumental 'hidden' at the end & for the most part, this is somewhere between pure funk with a jazz tinge & a blues influence that drives the beat along.
The opening track "Noise In My Throat" is the perfect vehicle for Lime's vocal style, the quality of his voice being superb.

Biggest surprise of the whole e.p. was "Living In The Lower Frequencies", a song that starts off as though we're heading into heavy metal territory then smooths out into a killer bassline. Then again, other listeners might be right into "Familiar Sights" which is more relaxed in mood.

I think the future will be pretty bright for Lime & perhaps one of the most surprising things about this release is that it's almost performed by the one person with just a little help from Simon Ayton.

Most serious music fans will be truly impressed by this.
